Physics you can push around

Chiong Lab is a free revision app for students sitting O-Level, GCSE and IGCSE Physics. It covers all twenty topics of the Singapore–Cambridge GCE O-Level Pure Physics syllabus, 6091 — from Measurement through to Electromagnetic Induction.

What Chiong Lab is

Most apps hand you a picture of a circuit

Here is one you can actually drive — drag the resistance, or open the switch, and watch every reading move together. This is a lesson from the app, running on this page.

That is what a lesson is. You find the rule by watching it hold, which is a different thing from being told it and hoping you remember.

Why does the lamp go dim?

Its power falls with I².

Oh — half the current is a quarter the brightness.

A series circuit you can change A twelve volt cell drives a variable resistor and a lamp in series. An ammeter reads the current. Changing the resistance changes the current, the voltage across the resistor and how brightly the lamp glows. 12 V A 1.00 A R = 6 Ω 6.00 V across R lamp — taken as 6 Ω here
Push the resistance to both ends. At 0 Ω the lamp is at its brightest and the ammeter reads highest — every reading moves at once, because they are one circuit.

What you get

Straight off the phone, not a mock-up

The whole syllabus, nothing locked

All twenty topics of the 6091 syllabus, in syllabus order, and every one of them open from the day you install it. No unit is held back until you have cleared the one before.

Start where you actually are — the week before the paper, that is rarely lesson one.

The LEARN screen of the app: Unit 1, “Current, e.m.f. and p.d.”, with a lesson node opened to a card reading “Charge & Electric Current — Lesson 1 of 2”, a START button worth fifty XP and a THEORY button, and the path carrying on to further lessons below.

A lesson you can drive

Move the supply and everything answers at once — the ammeter, the charge counter, and the number of electrons that have crossed the plane.

That is the whole method: you find the rule by watching it hold, rather than being told it and hoping it sticks.

The working, not just a cross

Every answer opens into the reasoning behind it — the line a marker is actually looking for, including on the ones you got right.

Questions you get wrong come back later, on a spacing schedule rather than at random, until they stop being wrong.

A question in the app: “In a metal wire, conventional current flows in the same direction as the electrons.” False has been chosen and marked correct, and a green panel explains that conventional current was defined as the flow of positive charge long before anyone knew electrons existed.

A reason to come back tomorrow

Streaks, XP and a daily quest or two. Turn up and the app says so.

No countdown, no threat, and nothing you have to pay to hold on to. Sitting a day out costs you a number, not your progress.

A celebration screen in the app showing a large number one under a bright sun, reading “1 day streak — Streak extended. Day one. Come back tomorrow and it is two.”

Free. No ads. Nothing locked.

Every lesson and every question works as a guest, offline, with nothing to sign up for. We do not sell data. Make an account only if you want your XP, your streak and your progress to follow you to another device.
